Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary is a birder’s paradise with 138 bird species having been identified there including the crowd please Great Blue Turaco. The sanctuary is also home to 8 primate species including the black and White Colobus, Red Colobus, mangabey, red tail, vervet, and L’Hoest.

The sanctuary is one of the best birding spots in Uganda, with ley bird species including the Nahan’s Francolin, Black bee-eater, Gree-breasted Pitta, Yellow-spotted Nicator, White-thighed hornbill, Yellow-ramped Tinkerbird, the African Pitta as well as the Little Greenbul among others. Bird-watching safaris are common in this sport and provide excellent viewing opportunities for birders while on a Uganda safari.

A few small mammals.

Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary is filled with small mammals such as sitatungas, bushbucks, and otters.
