Uganda Wildlife Authority

The Uganda Wildlife Authority is the government body charged with the conservation and protection of Uganda’s National parks and game reserves. UWA ensures that these protected areas and their ecosystems are safe from human encroachment or destructive tourism that has bad effects on the diversity of the place.

To enter any park or game reserve for a visit, the Uganda Wildlife Authority collects the various park entrance fees and permit charges. A percentage of the money from such fees and permits goes directly towards developing the communities adjacent to the national park or game reserve. The remaining portion goes directly to the national account as the tourism sector contribution.

The Uganda wildlife authority is the only seller/issuer of primate tracking permits in Uganda. As Tour operators, we purchase these permits from them on your behalf on a first-come first served basis. There are only three kinds of primate tracking permits; Gorilla permits, Chimpanzee permits, and Golden monkey tracking permits.
