Common questions about tailor-made safaris in Uganda and Rwanda
How do I ensure my safari is within my budget?

To make sure that your safari stays within the budget, start by clearly defining how much you want to spend. Communicate this to us, and we will design your safari based on the budget.

Our safaris are often all-inclusive, which means that once you are here, everything is taken care of except the tips you may want to give the service people, any other personal purchases like souvenirs. Safari packages don’t often include visas and international flights since our guests come from all parts of the earth.

When you talk with us, our safari experts can help you understand all aspects that relate to your safari – as well as work with you to craft a safari that is perfect for you, and fit in your budget.

Remember, a safari can be memorable without breaking the bank.

What if I don’t have enough time for a long safari trip?

Life has many responsibilities that require our time and presence, but this shouldn’t make it impossible to go on safari. The solution to this is choosing a short but fulfilling safari experience focused on 1 or 2 attractions.

There are many safaris that you can go on for less than 5 days and have a wonderful time. It could be gorillas, chimps, savannah wildlife, hiking, rafting and much more. By working with us, we shall help you narrow it down to your top interests and organize it in a way that provides a gratifying safari experience – short as it might be.

Additionally, Uganda and Rwanda’s pleasant climate that is warm and sunny all year round means that our activities are not very seasonal and you can visit anytime.

Let us know of your time and schedule constraints, and we shall work with you to come up with a way for you to go on your dream safari in Uganda or Rwanda.

Are safaris suitable for children and families?

Absolutely. Safaris are suitable for families and children. Some of the most outstanding safari memories happen with close friends, family or one’s own children.

With the exception of gorilla and chimpanzee tracking where children under 15 and 12 – respectively – are not allowed, most other safari activities are open for children. Very extreme activities like mountain climbing are not suitable for children under a certain age.

When you are planning a family safari with us, we shall tailor the itinerary and activities to the various age groups and interests of the family members. We help you coordinate all the details so that when you start your safari, everything is taken care of and your role is to take in the wonderful places, activities, new people and experiences that you are getting to share with your closest people.

What kind of accommodations can I expect during the safari?

The tourism infrastructure in Uganda and Rwanda is well developed and you have many accommodation options for visitors. There are luxury lodges, mid range lodges, budget lodges and even camping sites of various price ranges and offerings.

Luxury lodges allow the guest to sleep in luxury, and still be a few steps from the pure African wilderness with elephants, lions, buffaloes, hippos, etc roaming nearby.

Mid range options offer comfortable stays in great locations and are idea for most visitors since they are friendly to the wallet. Budget accommodation has many alternatives, from basic camping sites to lodges that located some distance from the parks and reserves.

This can seem like a mountain of research, but after 15 years of taking our guests around Uganda and Rwanda, we can help you get the most suitable alternative for your safari. When you start planning your safari with Exclusive African Safaris, you shouldn’t worry about accommodation – and your focus should be on letting us know of what safari activities excite you the most.

  • Bird watching (Uganda has the most birds in all of Africa)
  • Mountain climbing
  • White water rafting on the Nile

While these are common and loved by many people, your own adventure doesn’t have to be limited to the interests of others. Talk to us and let us help you get the safari the truly shows off and embodies your own spirit.

Here is our extensive article with more than 35 Uganda safari activities. It will give you a good introduction and grounding of what is possible for you.

For wildlife enthusiasts, game drives and gorilla trekking are a must. Adventure seekers might enjoy white-water rafting on the Nile or hiking in the mountains. Cultural experiences like village visits and local crafts can add depth to your trip.

Discuss your interests with us, and we’ll recommend activities that suit you best.

What is the best time of year to go on a safari in Uganda or Rwanda?

The best time for a safari in Uganda and Rwanda is during the dry seasons, from June to September and December to February. During these months, wildlife is easier to spot as animals gather around water sources, and trekking conditions are better.

Both Uganda and Rwanda enjoy tropical climates with warm sunny days all year round – which means that even during the rain season, guests can still visit for gorillas, wildlife, birds and more. The rainy seasons are especially ideal for people who like uncrowded parks with lush vegetation. The rains are great for birders and photographers.

Your safari itinerary can be planned with your schedule and interests in mind. If your schedule is more flexible, we can recommend for you a schedule that will perfectly balance your interests and preferences – making your safari a perfect adventure.

How do I ensure my trip is eco-friendly and supports local communities?

Right from the start, all our safari packages are friendly to the environment and people. A portion of your payment for park activities is dedicated to local neighboring communities, and the rest goes directly into conservation efforts.

This is one of the reasons why Uganda and Rwanda are loved by many earth-conscious travelers.

Furthermore, we choose accommodations that follow eco-friendly practices, and are locally owned and run.

We extend this further by including cultural visits and encounters as part of our safari trips. These allow you the guest to meet the locals, learn about their lives and when possible support them by buying souvenirs.

Do I need travel insurance for a safari trip?

Yes, we recommend that you get travel insurance for your safari trip.

Travel insurance can cover unexpected events such as trip cancellations, medical emergencies, lost luggage, and travel delays.

While the goal is to make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible, travel insurance for your safari provides peace of mind and financial protection in case something goes wrong.
