Extra day Rafting in Jinja: $300 USD

This Safari will take you to Kibale Forest National Park for enlightening encounters with Chimps and other primates. You will then go to Queen Elizabeth National Park for some classic wildlife sightings of elephants, buffaloes, and lions among many others.

After you explore Queen Elizabeth, you will go to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest where you will track mountain gorillas in their thick and forested natural habitat. From Bwindi, you will go to Lake Mburo National Park for animals like zebra, Eland, and some special bird species.

The rich and diverse wildlife and natural beauty of all these places will offer you some outstanding photographic opportunities.

Day 1

Arrival in Uganda, Drive to Kibale National Park

Today you will arrive at Entebbe airport and you will be welcomed by your safari guide. You will immediately start your journey from Entebbe to Kibale Forest National Park through Fort Portal town. Fort Portal rests in the shadow of the fabled Mountains of the Moon. Enjoy spectacular views of the mountains and tea fields along the way. You will drive to your accommodation near Kibale Forest National Park.

Day 2:

Chimpanzee tracking, Drive to Queen Elizabeth N.P

After breakfast, you will embark on the search for chimpanzees in Kibale Forest National Park. The park is also home to 10 other primates including l’ hoestes, red colobus, blues, red-tailed, and grey-cheeked mangabey. The guide will provide detailed explanations, not only on primates but on all the forest fauna and flora and will ensure that your walk is both informative and enjoyable.

In the afternoon, you will drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park where you will enjoy a unique 2-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel and into Lake Edward. This trip passes through possibly the highest concentration of hippos and many animals may be seen drinking at the water’s edge. This launch cruise offers an excellent platform for photography, bird watching, and game viewing.

Day 3:

Morning Game drive, Drive to Ishasha and game drive

Early in the morning, you will set out for a game drive. Queen Elizabeth National Park’s diverse eco-system of grassy plains, tropical forest, rivers, swamps, lakes and volcanic craters is home to an incredible abundance of wildlife. Game drives in this park, with the massive Rwenzori mountains as a backdrop, provides excellent opportunities to see lion, leopard, giant forest hog, Cape buffalo, elephants, defassa waterbuck, Uganda Kob, Topi and bushbuck. In the afternoon you will drive to the Ishasha sector where you will also have a game drive in search of tree-climbing lions.

Day 4:

Game Drive, Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After an early morning game drive in Ishasha, you will set out for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Drive through the “Switzerland of Africa” area known as the Kigezi Highlands with its terraced hillside and winding roads to Bwindi. You will proceed to your accommodation located in the foreground of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – The home of Mountain Gorillas.

Day 5:

Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi, Drive to Lake Bunyonyi

Begin your gorilla trek in the early morning, and set off into the tangled and mist-shrouded forests with guides and trackers who are very experienced at locating the gorillas by finding the nest the family had used the previous night. The search for these majestic animals goes through the thick untamed rainforest, where you’ll be scrambling over mossy rocks and through deep undergrowth it can be arduous at times, but the encounter is worth the effort.

Watching gorillas in their natural habitat is a memory that will last a lifetime. The experienced ranger guides will willingly share with you a lot of information about the history and lifestyle of the Gorillas. After spending an hour with the gorillas you will exit the forest and drive to Lake Bunyonyi and relax at your accommodation.

Day 6:

Drive to Lake Mburo N.P, Evening Game drive

After an early breakfast, you will drive to Lake Mburo National Park. Enjoy an evening game drive on your way into the park. Drive along the Lake and stand a chance to see herds of zebra, Cape buffalo and eland. Birdwatchers will enjoy some of the 250 species of birds found in Lake Mburo including Papyrus Gonolek, Brown faced Lapwing, Carruther’s Cisticola and White-winged Warbler.

Day 7:

Morning Nature Walk, Drive to Entebbe - departure

Early in the morning, you will proceed for a morning nature walk under the escort of an armed ranger. Enjoy the sights of animals including close encounters with herds of Zebra and antelopes. You will return to the lodge for breakfast and later depart for Entebbe where you will take your flight back home. There will also be time to stop at the equator for photographs.

Notes on Gorilla tracking

  •  Gorilla trekking is a strenuous activity and one should be physically fit to enjoy this tour.
  •  The minimum gorilla tracking age is 15 years.
  •  Minimum chimpanzee tracking age is 12 years
  •  Anyone with signs of communicable diseases will NOT be allowed to track.
  •  While possession of a gorilla permit is a guarantee of trekking and sighting the gorillas, the quality of the gorilla trekking cannot be guaranteed.

We strongly recommend that you carry the following:

  •  Rain poncho (lightweight)
  •  Long-sleeved shirt
  •  Waterproof trousers
  •  Sturdy hiking boots
  •  Leather gardening-type gloves
  •  Sunscreen.
  •  Insect repellent and any necessary medications must be brought by you either from your home town or Kampala.
  •  Cameras and Camcorders are allowed but bring enough batteries and memory cards.
