4 Days Kidepo Flying Wildlife Safari

Quick Overview

This 4-day Kidepo flying wildlife safari takes you to explore Uganda’s purest wilderness – the wildlife, the scenery and the local culture of the people who live around Kidepo Valley NP.

You will take a domestic flight from Entebbe to Kidepo, and back. In kidepo, you will see elephants, zebras, giraffes, huge herds of buffalo, warthogs, duikers, hartebeests, lions, leopards, cheetahs and hundreds of bird species.

A game drive around Narus Valley offers visitors a chance to see the highest concentration of Buffaloes and Elephants. Other animals that may be seen roaming around include Jackal, Zebra, Roan Antelope, Warthog, Jackson’s Hartebeest, Eland, Oribi, Cheetah, Leopard, Klipspringer, and Lion.

Beyond the mammals, Kidepo Valley National Park is a beautiful haven for birds. The park boasts of being the highest concentration of birds endemic to Uganda like Ostriches, Kori Bustards, vultures, pygmy falcons, hornbills, eagles, etc.

Finally, you will visit the local people for an opportunity to learn about their traditions, norms and way of life. Meet the local elders and have an opportunity to interact with them. They will show you the kraals, the grinding stones, and many more interesting items.

Day 1:

Fly from Entebbe to Kidepo Valley NP

After your morning breakfast, you will be transferred to Entebbe Airport to prepare for your afternoon flight to Kidepo Valley National Park. Because of its isolated location, Kidepo is untouched by human factors, and therefore a marvel of the pure African wilderness.

After Arrival, you will have the option of taking a game drive near the lodge, or perhaps relax to the beautiful views as you take a dip in the swimming pool. Even around the pool, you will be able to spot some amazing animals, such as the friendly elephants that frequently come to drink in the nearby waterhole. As the evening rolls by, the scenery and views will become more picturesque and grand that you will need to pick up your camera.

Day 2:

Game drive in Kidepo, Afternoon Community Visit

After an early breakfast, go for a morning game drive to Kanangorok Hot Springs. During this game drive, you will see many animals such as buffaloes, antelopes, cheetahs, lions, giraffes, zebras, cheetahs, ostriches and so much more. After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon have a cultural experience that will bring you into contact with the Karamojong peoples at Karenga and Kapedo. Meet the local elders and have an opportunity to interact with them. They will show you the kraals, the grinding stones, and many more interesting items. The interaction with the natural wilderness and the local community will have you feeling like you are one with everything around you.

Day 3:

Full Day Exploring Kidepo Valley National Park

After breakfast, we will visit the abandoned Katurum Lodge. Built by former president Idi Amin, this impressive structure is worth a visit for the views alone. A must for birders, look out for Fox Kestrel, Eastern Chanting Goshawk, Grasshopper Buzzard, Montague's Harrier, Fan Tailed Raven, and the very rare Stone Partridge.

In the afternoon, you will go on a game drive to the Nurus and Kidepo Valleys. You will be able to see some more animals such as cheetahs, leopards, lions, buffaloes, etc.

Day 4:

Guided Nature Walk, Fly back to Entebbe

After breakfast, visit the bird hide and enjoy a guided nature walk. We will return to the lodge for lunch.

After lunch board your return flight back from Kidepo Valley National Park to Entebbe International Airport.

Upon arrival, you will proceed with your flight check-in back home or to your next destination. This will mark the end of your Kidepo safari.

Best time to visit Uganda or Rwanda
